Where would Loscon XXVI be without you? Nowhere, that's where! We need lots of volunteers to make the convention happen. Oh sure, we have lots of people on the committee, but we still need you! Ever want to see a convention from the "other side"? Ever wonder why the people on the committee keep coming back to work on the con year after year? Ever want to chop vegetables for hours? (Well, maybe not that last one....) Frankly, everyone works on the committee because it's fun. We like it (at least that's what we tell ourselves....). But seriously. Join us. Work an hour or two, or twelve. See what it's like behind the scenes. You just might like it, and come back for more, year after year. And to show our appreciation for our volunteers, we will have some very special "spiffs" to thank you for the time you give. And now it's time to tell you what they are! If you work for Loscon XXVI as a volunteer for four hours, you will get this compass key ring: ![]() When you work for Loscon XXVI for eight hours, you'll get this cool palm-sized safety flashlight: ![]() (Of course, both these items will be imprinted with the Loscon XXVI logo...) And if you work for Loscon XXVI for twelve hours, we will pass you on to next year's Loscon as a full attending member! To get any (and all!) of our 'spiffs' you must sign up through our Volunteer Department and make sure that you get all of your hours recorded and signed off. These giveaways are just our way of saying thanks for helping us put on a great convention! So - if you would like more information on volunteering, or just want to dive in right now and say "I'll do it!" please email Tadao Tomomatsu and say, "Yes, I will volunteer!". You'll make his day. (He doesn't get very much email.) |
