History of Rock and Roll
Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues present the History of Rock. DJ Shawn Crosby brings you over half a century of the best in dance music from Jailhouse Rock to Jump, Jive, & Wail. Saturday night after the Masquerade.
Of course we'll have Regency dancing on Friday night at Loscon 28. Come in costume, or come as you are. If you don't know how to do the dances, I'll teach you.
What is Regency Dance?
Well, the English Regency period was about the year 1800. Napoleon ruled Europe, and George Bryan "Beau" Brummell ruled England. You may have read about the regency period in novels by Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen. Recent films set in the regency period include Emma and Sense and Sensibility.
Regency dancing is measured and elegant. Come to dance or come to watch, but you may find that it's surprisingly easy to learn.
