Robert James earned his doctorate from UCLA in 1995.   A veteran teacher at all levels of education for almost two decades, he has published widely on Robert Heinlein, including the afterword for Heinlein's first novel,  "For Us, the Living"  and a 16,000-word biographical sketch on Leslyn Heinlein.   He is currently working on an extensive history of the American science fiction short story, if only he can get his two kids, his wife, and his cat to stop amusing him long enough to finish writing it  ...
