Chairman's Message
A message from the chair: Update
I'm not a writer so it is with some difficulty that I write this Chairman's message. I'm struck by the energy that my committee have been able to generate with so many large conventions this year. My little 200 pound gorilla is dwarfed by the 800 pound gorilla going on around us and looming even larger right now. But still my committee perseveres, and even brings a level of enthusiasm that I would have thought impossible.
I have wanted to meet my writer guest of honor Mr. William Tenn for a number of years, but have been thwarted by many events. I was in Boston where he was Guest of Honor and still managed to completely miss him. So you can see why I'm looking forward to this convention very much. My other guests, Bernie Wrightson and Fred Patten are very much worthy as well, and I look forward to spending time with them and the convention members. I suppose I have more fun at conventions that I'm working, though there are several that I rather enjoy attending - it's a love hate relationship. On the one hand, you want to make it the best con you can for everyone involved. On the other hand, you want to be able to enjoy the con yourself. Sometimes you don't get both but it’s important to put on a good show. Because in the end it's the members that you want to be pleased.
I'm hoping that you all have a very pleasant and exciting convention, and I look forward to providing you the best programming that I can muster, and the best experience that it is possible to give. I'll be returning you now to the rest of the “PR”, which hopefully will have the information you seek and a few interesting tidbits to whet your appetite and bring you to the convention to see the marvels that I and my committee can provide. There may even be a few surprises this year as we have a couple of interesting events in the works, the details of which I will write about in the next “PR”.
Until then, my friends.
