Today we stuffed the registration packets and started piling up the convention supplies for truck loading.   BTW - The program book looks Awesome!   Theresa Mather outdid herself with the cover art and Robert J. Sawyer allowed us to reprint an old award-winning story of his.   The panel schedule is now all up on-line for your perusal.   As usual, we warn that everything is subject to change.   More demonstrations, readings, and workshops are being scheduled as I write and will be posted.   Remember, we do need volunteers for truck loading, Thanksgiving day set-up, as well as all weekend long.   It is a way to meet people, learn the workings of the convention, and broaden your convention experience.   See you at the dig!

The Fourth and final Progress Report has now been posted above and is in the mail.

This year for the first time, LosCon is making available a few rooms for members to personally reserve to present readings, demonstrations, or other items they feel might be of interest to their fellow LosCon members.   These rooms are labeled the Writer's Lounge and the Artist's Lounge  (see Hotel Layout).   There is also one room designated specifically for Birds of a Feather Meetups.   This is an opportunity for you, a LosCon member, to directly influence a portion of LosCon's programming.   Space reservations will be allocated on a first come / first serve  (slightly juried)  basis with all decisions made by the Chair being absolute and final.   You must have a full membership to LosCon in order to place a reservation.   Individuals can only reserve 1 one-hour time slot.   Groups can request a larger block of time for workshops or presentations within the Writer's Lounge or Artist's Lounge and will be given precedence in terms of scheduling.   Time allotment will be allocated by the LosCon Chair.   Simply e-mail  chair34@loscon.org  and provide the following information:  title of presentation/workshop, description, name of presenter/s, and preferred date and time.   You will receive a reply within a few days.   Groups and individuals will be fully responsible for their own publicity for their event and the event must be open to all and be at least PG-13.   If said reservation is made early enough, it will be posted on the web and given to the on-site newszine editor.   Information about these sessions will not be published within the Program Book or in the Pocket Program.   Remember, the convention is only providing a space with chairs and a table, no audio/visual or other tech.   Take advantage of this opportunity and e-mail to reserve a time today.

For those that haven't heard, I was hospitalized with kidney failure and several other problems (including anemia and pneumonia) about a month ago.   This was after a bout of stuggling with a viral infection during the previous month.   Thanks to everyone who e-mailed or called me with good wishes.   I'm getting better but am still very weak.   I apologize to anyone that might have e-mailed me and did not receive a reply.   I'm currently working on getting back up to speed.   Thankfully I've got a very good crew so most everything else is proceeding well with Loscon.   The first three Progress Reports are now all uploaded and we are currently working on the final Progress Report which will be mailed out toward the middle of October. - Dr. Susan "Arizona" Gleason, Chair

Filking information has now been posted HERE - included a very preliminary schedule.   There will be concerts by Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, Lynn Maudlin, Steve Savitzky, Moira Stern and more.

6/10/07
The second Progress Report is now available as a PDF.   The website will soon be updated with more information since plans are progressing nicely.   Be sure to book your room in the hotel and consider staying over an extra day since we are in the process of arranging a tour of The La Brea Tar Pits on the Monday after LosCon is "officially" over.   Information will be posted here once it becomes available.

The first Progress Report has been sent out.   A PDF version will be added here soon.   However, the incorrect hotel code was included.   We have recently received the corrected code.   The correct hotel code is LOSLOSA.

Thanks for visiting the LOSCON 34 Website.   The first Progress Report will be out by the second week of March.   We have had our first committee meeting and ideas were flowing like crazy.   It has been determined however that financially we will only be able to mail out Progress Report #1 and #4.   The second and third Progress Reports will be available for download as PDF files from this page or can be e-mailed to you upon request.   To sign up for e-mail delivery of your progress report please e-mail  webmaster@loscon.org.   If you e-mail us in the next few days you can receive Progress Report #1 in this fashion, and receive it before anyone else.   The Progress Reports will feature original short stories by John DeChancie as well as many pieces of original artwork.   This is also a good way to participate in our Mummy Riddle Quest.   Check out the new  Riddle Quest  page to see the latest riddles.   Most up-to-date information about the planning and progress of the convention will be available upon this website.   For instance, to find out information about and to enter our Art Contest visit the  Art Show page.   Meanwhile, now is the time to sign up for LOSCON 34 while the rate is still just a low $35  ($15 lower than the at door rate).   Thank you for your interest and check back often.
